The village is steeped in history with the 11th century church just next door once being the seat of religious learning and now the home of frescoes depicting St George and the Dragon. Cardiff city centre with its Millennium Centre and Stadium, theatres, restaurants and dock area can be easily reached by car in less than half an hour, the beaches of Ogmore, Porthcawl and Barry are a short drive away and then there is the market town of Cowbridge with its designer shops fifteen minutes from here. For golf enthusiasts there are numerous courses within the area and Celtic Manor Golf Resort, home of this year's Ryder Cup is forty minutes away. Cottrell Park is the nearest course at which visitors to the Fox and Hounds can enjoy discounted green fees. Also the links courses at Royal Porthcawl and Pyle and Kenfig are within easy reach.
